Tteokbokki
Description
Tteokbokki is a very popular rice cake (tteok) dish from Korea. I got to be aware of this dish after watching a bunch of Korean dramas.
Here is my own twist, combining recipe I followed with bunch of fun toppings I like, with reduced amount of the tteok itself.
Ingredients
- Tteok (Korean rice cake), short tubular shape
- 5-10 large anchovy
- 5-10 pieces of kelp - well, depends how big they are
- 3 tbs of gochujang (Korean fermented chili paste. Mildest)
- 3 green onion, cut 2 cm long
- 1-2 cup of water
- 2 hard boiled eggs, peel
- 2 sheets of fish cake
- 1 sachet of sweetener
- Optional
Cut into bite size:
- Enoki or other mushroom
- Fish or beef balls
- Fried/layered tofu
- Konyaku
Steps
- Make broth: boil anchovy and kelp in 1-2 cup of water for 10-15 minutes, remove chunks from the pan.
- Boil frozen tteok just to soften
- Add gochujang and sweetener/sugar to the broth, mix well
- Add the rest of ingredients, cook a little more until everything is heated up.
