Nasi Goreng
Description
Nasi goreng is a very popular rice dish from Indonesia. Literaly meaning fried rice, it has so many variation throughout the archipelago.
Nasi goreng is usually served with a fried egg, crackers, fried chicken, and even satay. Extra chopped chili and shallot acar are common companion.
Ingredients
- 2 cup of cooked rice
- 5 cloves of shallots, chopped
- 5 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 tbs oil or butter
- Vegetables, chopped
- Meat or chicken, chopped
- 2 eggs
- Ketchup
- Salt and pepper
- Optional:
- Soy sauce
- Fish sauce
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Chili or chili sauce
Steps
- Heat up butter on frying pan, sautee shallots and garlic.
- Add meat and seasonings, sautee. Add vegetables, sautee.
- Add rice, stir until seasonings blending well, but be gentle not to mush the rice. Reduce heat. Cook some more until looking done.
- Eggs can be fried sunny side up style, medium or well done, or stirred and fried, than sliced up into thin strands.
- Serve with chopped chili, soy sauce, acar, and kerupuk.
