Journal
  • 29 November: Four sections were planted in 15 cm round pot. Around mid December, a shoot started poking out from the soil. They have been growing quite fast since.
  • 18 December: moved to 10x30 cm2 container. Only 3 sections were retained to give more space. Each section has growing buds and roots. One of them even poking through the soil already.
  • 28 December: 2 and 4 cm height shoots (left), 8 cm height with a large (2-3 cm long) leaf (centre), and 6 cm shoot (right).
  • Early January 2022: Soil surface covered in clay balls from Ikea.
  • 11 Jan: Height up to 12 cm.
  • 1 Mar: Height is 15 - 25 cm. Renew the soil because some fungus gnats found now and then. Of course the closer ones to the root, maybe where the gnats are concentrated, can't be disturbed. Then it's watered with fertilizers.
  • 25 Mar: Watered thoroughly in preparation of 10 days holiday.
  • 3 Apr: Back from holiday, looking good other than expected drying leaves edges.
  • 15 May: The drying leaves have been a problem for a long time. Growth also very slow. Even the leaves that are not even opening yet are browning in the edges. It's been a lovely part of the speckles family, it's time to retire now.
Care
  • Full sun for far north region.
  • Rich soil that can drain well.
  • Tolerate wet soil. Don't let the soil dried out. Water need: above average.
  • Needs a lot of nutrient. Feed every month. Best with all purpose liquid fertilizer.
