Journal
- Planted from seeds 18 December 2021. Was covered with paper towel to reduce risk of fungus gnat investation.
- When checked a week later on 24 December, it's thriving and healthy looking at 1 inch of height uniformly. The covering is changed into cling wrap dome to allow sunlight.
- 30 Dec: 5 cm tall.
- 11 Jan: 5 cm tall. Pebbles added to the surface recently.
- 23 Jan: 7-8 cm.
- 1 Feb: Height wise is about the same, but very bushy and foliage are quite large. It is already about 7 weeks after planting, so could be harvested. However, plants looking so cute, we don't feel like finish them by eating. We decided to let it continue growing and see how it looks. Maybe will taste some in the term thinning is needed.
- 4 Feb: First harvest! Ramen topping for me and Ryan.
- 8 Feb: Has been regularly harvested in eating quantity (small) since the first harvest.
- 12 Mar: Back then, arugula becoming to thin for further harvest and let grow. Now that it thrives, probably too late since it's older and becoming too bitter. It was thinned yesterday a little bit.
- 21 Mar: Thriving but getting too old and bitter and space is needed. Sacrificed.
Harvest information
Harvest when it's fully grown, 4-7 weeks after seeding. Leaves should be about 3 inches long, don't let it get too old or it will be tough and bitter. Check reference for harvesting tips.
