Native to Asia. Also called scallion, spring onion, and green onion. This species is the one commonly found in grocery stores. This species is considered to be bulbless. The other species, Allium cepa, can form bulb. However can be harvested young too and have similar appearance to this one. At that stage, they function the same in the kitchen.

- 7 Feb 2022: Seeds (McKenzie) planted in new soil (MiracleGro potting mix), with clay beads at the bottom of the pot. Covered in bowl cap.
- 12 Feb: sprouting!
- 12 Mar: About 15-20 cm.
Care
- Full sun
- Regular watering is a must as soon as the soil starts to dry out. Soil should be consistently moist but not soggy.
- 20-26 °C
- Tolerate humidity.
- Balanced fertilizer. Fertilizer that is high in nitrogen, such as fish emulsion, will keep them green and growing.
- Harvest when it is 15-20 cm tall.
- 25 Mar: Watered thoroughly in preparation of 10 days holiday.
- 3 Apr: Back from holiday, still thin just like before. With more drying ends.
