Spearmint

Peppermint and spearmint are 2 well known members of mint family. Peppermint is a natural hybrid of 2 species, spearmint and water mint. Peppermint has a much higher menthol content, being 40%, while spearmint is only 0.5%. Peppermint has more of the cooling sensation caused by the high menthol content, spearmint is rather "sweet" and get the flavor from carvone rather than menthol. Which mint to use? It teas, usually peppermint tea. in culinary, usually spearmint. For example, tzatziki sauce, spring rools, and mojito.
